10+ Of Our Favorite Books For 1 to 2 year-olds

These books are monumental in our home.  We have read them about 800 billion times and each time my kids are delighted.  The copies we have of them are incredibly well loved and even though my kids are a bit older now each one of these are all still favorites.  We hope you enjoy them as well!

“The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle- I’m pretty sure that this is one of the most popular baby/toddler books of all time.  There is just something about this adorable caterpillar and his insatiable appetite that is so darn appealing.

“The Red Ripe Strawberry and the Big Hungry Bear” by Audrey Wood and Don Wood- This is one of my favorite children books of all time and I could not wait to share it with my kids.  I am thrill beyond belief that they love it as much as I do.

“Red Wagon” by Renata Liwski- This sweet and simple book has the most beautiful illustrations and is packed with imagination.  It’s no surprise that it is so well loved in our home.

“Jamberry” by Bruce Degen- This is another one of my all time favorites that I am thrilled my kids adore.  The rhymes, nonsense words and illustrations are charming.  Plus, it is incredibly fun to read aloud, not to mentions catchy.

“Deep in the Forest: A Seek-and-Find Adventure” by Josef Antòn and Lucie Brunellière-This is one of the most coveted books in my home.  If one child has it, the other wants it.  I can completely see why.  Its an oversized board book with bright neon illustrations that are packed with animals.  Plus, its a search and find book simple enough for toddlers. Love!

The Very Busy Spider” by Eric Carle- Yup, another Eric Carle.  What can I say, we have a lot of books, but his just seem to float to the top!  I do funny voices with this one when I say the animal lines and I think that adds to the appeal for my kids.

Oh, the Thinks You Can Think!“by Dr. Seuss-  My son especially has an affinity for Dr. Seuss’ rhyming.  I am pleased that he likes this one so much because it’s one of my favorites too and the message is beautiful.

One Lonely Fish” by Andy Mansfield and Thomas Flintham- I don’t know what my kids like more about this large board book, the shaped pages, the counting aspect, the building tension or the surprise ending.  It is a short book that packs a lot of punch.

Mr. Brown Can Moo! Can You? (Big Bright & Early Board Book)“>”Mr Brown Can Moo, Can You?” Dr. Seuss-  Animal voices plus our beloved Dr. Seuss?!! Enough said.

Little Blue Truck board book“>”Little Blue Truck” by Alice Schertle and Jill McElmurry- Little Blue Truck is basically a celebrity over her.  We love him in this original book as well as his holiday versions. I love that he is a part of our home all year.

See How I Sleep (Take a Look)“>”See How I Sleep (Take a Look)” by Liesbet Slegers- My kids are in love with the chunky slide-out pages in this book.  The first time I showed them how it worked they thought it was pure magic and it somehow never ceases to delight.
