All My Treasures

“All My Treasures:  A Book of Joy” by Jo Witek and Christine Roussey

Children revel in all the simple joys that the world has to offer.  Their unique perspective and unrestricted curiosity has them noticing life’s tiny details that we so often take for granted.  For example, they may notice how beautiful ripples in a pond are when something stirs it or get excited at the sight of the moon each night.  Everyday I take the lesson from my toddlers to enjoy life more and simply to celebrate more.

That is what this book is: a celebration.  It is about a little girl who receives the very special gift of a beautiful little box that she decides to fill with all her treasures.  She delights in the simple, but beautiful aspects of her life and wants to keep them treasured forever.  I love the joy packed in this little book and I love the reminder it brings.  Plus, the illustrations are purely delightful!   Christine’s modern style is so light, airy and has me swooning.  I love how she implemented flaps to lift throughout the book, only unlike most lift-the-flap books, the flaps are purely there for enjoyment.  Each one contains little surprises such as fun words, random objects, and whimsical additions.  They seem to honestly and truly have no purpose other than to make you smile, and smile we do.
