Beyond The Pond

beyond-the-pond

Beyond the Pond by Joseph Keufler

The power of imagination is real.  Through imagination books go from words on paper to magical worlds and friends that seem real to us.  Through imagination children can role play different careers and situations that they are learning about and trying to make sense of.  Through imagination the world turns from a place with rigid boundaries to a realm of  possibilities.  It is a tool that children, and yes, even adults, benefit from strengthening.   This book is a beautiful reminder of that.

It is about a little boy who lives in a little country home out “in the middle of nowhere” where there doesn’t seem to be much to do.  In his desperation for fun he starts to poke around and explore a little pond in the yard.  His interest soon turns into a wild and beautiful adventure as he uses his imagination to explore it.  He discovers a new world at the other end with fanciful beasts and experiences daring exploits.  Eventually, when he “returns” to his home he discovers that things aren’t quite as he left him.   His world is filled with more color and wonder then before.

This change is shown through the incredible illustrations as well as the text and brings-home a lovely message: the world is more wonderful with a little imagination and a fresh perspective.  This book as a whole is magical and absolutely inspirational!  It is perfect for reminding children of the beauty that awaits them in the undiscovered corners journeys waiting for them to dream-up.
