Busy Wheels Series

Busy Wheels Series by Mandy Archer and Martha Lightfoot

What is it with little kids loving everything on wheels?  Is it the spinning motion? Or perhaps the speed?  Probably a mix of everything!  This Busy Wheels series is a bunch of books that feature a wheeled-wonder each.  There are enough of them to satisfy even the most wheel-obsessed child and as a mom I have to say that I love that.  My little guy also definitely approves as he thinks these books are the greatest.

As mentioned, each book features a different vehicle, anywhere from Tractors to Monster Trucks.  The story goes through a-day-in-the-life of that pice of equipment and it’s operator.  I love how informative these books are as the day depicted is overall very realistically what a day for that operator would look like. They are also jam packed with wonderful vocabulary, not just words like “rumble”, but the actual vocabulary used for each specific  vehicle and the tasks they perform.   Also, at the end of each book there is a simple diagram of the vehicle with different parts pointed out (very simple so its easy for young children to understand) and is followed by a page dedicated to sharing other vehicles that are typically grouped in a similar category as that one.

These books combine fun and learning with bright kid-friendly illustrations in a way that young children will love and understand.  They are wonderful!
