Dr Seuss Inspired “Truffula Fizz” Drinks

Recently I shared our love for this book along with a recipe for “schlopp” which was inspired by the illustration of it inside.   However, while I was pouring over the illustration my eye kept going back to a beautiful drink that the waiter was carrying to two happy customers sitting at a cafe table under an umbrella.  Inside the long stem glass was what appeared to be small balls of fluff.

It fascinated me because wouldn’t it be so fun to be served a glass full of fluff?  The fluff inside reminded me of a trend I’ve seen going around social media of filling a glass with cotton candy and then pouring a drink inside.  What results is a magical display of the cotton candy quickly dissolving and the color of the liquid changing as it is affected.

I instantly made the connection and thought the two would be a perfect pairing and thus “Truffula Fizz” was born.  I named this fun drink idea after truffle trees because they are fluffy and I used cotton candy for my Truffula Tree inspired cupcake recipe that I also shared recently.

So give it a try!  All you have to do is grab a glass, fill it with tufts of cotton candy, then pour some sprite inside and watch the magic.  My toddler was absolutely fascinated with this drink and I think it would be fun and easy way to add pizzazz to any Dr. Seuss party or celebration.  Or just any celebration in general really!

If you give this Beyond the Book activity a try I’d love to hear how it goes! Share it on Instagram using hashtag #beyondthebook (I’m on Instagram as @book.nerd.mommy) or even just comment here with your thoughts. It would make my day! Or to simply save for later pin the image below.

This drink is inspired by Dr. Seuss, only 2 ingredients, and creates a magical effect that is fun to watch!
