“Elwood Bigfoot: Wanted:Birdie Friends!” paired with Slumberkin Bigfoot

“Elwood Bigfoot: Wanted: Birdie Friends!” by Jill Esbaum and Nate Wragg

Elwood is a friendly, giant Bigfoot who lives in the forest all by himself.  He is perfect “friend material” however, he doesn’t have any.  His one lament is that he is horribly lonely and his hearts biggest desire is to have some friends.  Not just any friends even, but some bird friends.  Elwood thinks they are the most wonderful creatures he has ever seen and he just knows that they are meant to be the best of friends.  The only problem is that they find his size intimidating and never stick around.

Poor Elwood tries everything he can think of from building a house in the trees to even pretending to be a bird until they finally understand that he has a big heart and wants to be friends.  Once he is establishes a relationship with the birds, he learns a valuable lesson.  He discovers that it is him that the birds value and not the amusement park he created to win them over. (Yes, he is THAT awesome!)  He learns the heartwarming lesson that they like him for who he is.

Elwood is a character that is so incredibly easy to love.  His passionate optimism and complete loyalty are enough to have little readers wishing they could be friends with him as well.  I love the bright, 2D styled illustrations and the text is perfectly paired with it to create a charming story.   It has just enough fun added to have you smiling throughout the entire book.  It is definitely a winner!

Bigfoot Slumberkin

I am ecstatic to be working with Slumberkins again  in order to pair their Bigfoot Ultra Plush with this darling book.  You may remember that we fell head over heels for Slumberkins when we were introduced to our Hartley Sloth and we have continued to be smitten ever since.  I seriously cannot rave about them enough.  My little gal had bonded with her sloth and would seriously not go to bed at  night unless he was there to cuddle.  It was adorable.  I was completely aware of how serious she was about her affection for him that I was wondering how she would react to Bigfoot being introduced.

First of all, let me say that if your order the Bigfoot be prepared for extreme softness.  Seriously, EXTREME! He is every bit as lusciously soft as the sloth, but in a plush way as opposed to a silky way. Plus that toothy grin: adorable.  My little girl’s whole face lit up when she saw him, just as it did when she met the sloth and the two have been buddies ever since.  Right now she prefers to sleep with both slumberkins at night, but if one happens to be missing form the equation for a bit, she is okay.  This is definitely ideal because she carries these guys everywhere and if one is temporarily hiding behind the couch it is nice that the other is an accepted substitute.  Mom win!

Another huge mom win is that these new Bigfoot Slumberkins are machine washable! That means he can accompany her on all her fun adventures and is still easy to wash.  As you all know, its really the little things that make such a difference.

I am so thrilled that she loves him just as much as her sloth (though admittedly not too surprised) and love that he makes such a darling pairing with this book.  In fact, I think we will be calling our little Bigfoot Elwood.  Besides, Bigfoot friends really do make some of the best friends around!
