Heart Shaped Brownies From Cake Mix

Heart Shaped Brownies Made With Cake Mix

I think by now it is pretty obvious that I adore cake, especially cupcakes.  They are so much fun to make and I love how happy they make people.  However, sometimes I get a craving for brownies and I don’t have the time or desire to make them from scratch.  (Yes, I too suffer from getting a bit “hangry” now and then!)  This is where being a cake lover causes problems because I search through my cupboards only to find cake mix after cake mix.

I ran across this problem earlier today, but a light bulb went off in the middle of my dilemma.  I make different flavored cupcakes of different densities all the time from cake mix, so why not brownies?  And thus this simple recipe/cake mix adaptation was born.  These brownies are dense and could fool just about anyone as to their origin.  Plus, they taste pretty wonderful even if I do say so myself.

I used a Wilton brand heart pan that I picked up recently from Target and I’ll bet there are still some hanging around your Target still as well.  If not there are a bunch of different heart pans out there and you can even just make a sheet of brownies and cut them out with heart shaped cookie cutters.  Just note if you make thick brownies you will need to add a minute or two to the bake time.  Drizzle some chocolate on top and you are good to go with treats that will please just about anyone.

The heart shape pan I used produced extra thick brownies so the bake time was 22-24 minutes.
