Hooray For Today!

hooray for today

Hooray for Today! by Brian Won

I cannot even begin to tell you how much I have been anticipating the release of this book!  “Hooray for Hat!”, its predecessor, was so amazing that I was anxiously awaiting this one with the highest of expectations.  And, no surprise, Brian Won exceeded all of them.  Just like “Hooray for Hat!”  this book has a party/playful feel to it.  The illustrations are bright and beautiful and to our pleasure we get to see the return of all the friends from the first book.  That especially makes it extra fun.

The storyline is pretty adorable as well.  It is all about little owl and how excited she is to start her day and play with her friends.  Eagerly she sets out in search of a playmate.  There is only one problem;  being an owl means that her day starts at night and all of her friends want to sleep.  Owl tries to keep her chin-up and persistently tries friend after friend.  However, in the end she is finally discouraged and heads home.  You feel sympathetic to her plight and just when things are looking like she will just have to be lonely, the sun comes up and all her friends are ready to play!  After a nap, so is owl.

Again, this book is absolutely positively adorable.  I am chalking-it-up as one of my favorite new release books this year and am going to recommend it to everyone I know!  Definitely take the opportunity to check it out, it will brighten your day.
