I am really excited about the themes that we chose for July! July marks the birthday of America and that, to me, is a very special occasion. Because I want my children to know about the country that they live in and what it means to be patriotic I have enjoyed scouting out the best books about our Nation and patriotism. It makes my heart so happy to share with them what I love about living in America and helping them to understand what they are a part of.

In addition to having pride in their country, I want my children to have a love for other cultures and the other people around the world. Not only are they a part of America, but they are also a part of a giant global family that is full of beauty and diversity. I want to help raise them to be globally and culturally aware and to celebrate differences as well as embracing what we all have in common. To aid in this I included a selection of wonderful books that share about our world in everything form different food, religions, lifestyles, geography, languages and more.
Lastly, the third topic I choose is citizenship and community because I want my children to understand that at they impact their local and global community and have so much potential to create so much positive change in the world. These books are empowering and wonderfully done and contain this very important message.
I feel all three of these themes work together in beautiful harmony and I am so excited that we have this chance to focus on them.
