Our Favorite Picture Books for October: Halloween

Confession: I get alllllmost as excited about pulling out Halloween books as I do about pulling out the Christmas books. It’s true! I am very particular about my Halloween books because I don’t want anything too spooky and I heavily favor the “cute” over “creepy”, but I don’t find my selection too limited even with such strict criteria. There are so many fun halloween books out there and their playfulness and silliness is so endearing.

These Halloween books embrace all my favorite parts of the holiday. There are a few books that can be read as “scary stories” included (Such as “The Widow’s Broom” and “Creepy Pair of Underwear!”) but they are so mild or include enough humor that they don’t spook my sensitive kiddos. We also included our favorite friendly ghosts and witches in this group as well as our beloved Little Blue Truck. Some of these characters feel like seasonal friends to us at this point. We hope you love this selection as much as we do.
