Pancakes!: An Interactive Recipe Book by Lotta Nieminem

I have a little guy who loves to help cook, A LOT!  This usually means that in his over eager state to help he makes a ginormous mess and things take longer.  Honestly, I am usually okay with that.  Things may get messy but it is much more fun to have him join in and witness his excitement.  However, it isn’t always realistic to let him help cook as much as he and I would like.  There may be time deadlines, or I may be multitasking to the brink of my sanity already. (Just keeping it real! 😉 )  That is why I love that he has a play kitchen and plastic food in the playroom.  Even then though, he can’t take those on-the-go.  That is partly why this book is such a huge hit with us!

“Pancakes!: An Interactive Recipe Book” is just that, an interactive “cooking” experience!  It is a sturdy board book of wonderful quality that contains an actual recipe for one of my toddler’s favorite foods: pancakes.  Each page spread has one or two interactive parts to the “recipe” where by the pull of a tab or the spin of a wheel your child can “pour” the flour and “mix” the bowl.  It takes you completely from start to finish and my little guy is enraptured by it.  It is easily one of his favorite books that I have introduced him to this year.

The illustrations are bright and modern which renders them appealing to young readers and the interactive features are just the best.  This is one you will definitely want to check out if you have toddlers who love to help in the kitchen and love imaginative play.  Plus, it is easy to take on-the-go to keep them happy and entertained.  Also, I think it would make a lovely Christmas gift or stocking stuffer!
