Penguin and Pumpkin by Salina Yoon
It’s Fall and as usual for penguin that means that everything is white. White, white, white. But, Penguin is curious and wonders what fall looks like in places that aren’t covered in ice. So, he and all his penguin friends sail off on an iceberg to find out. That is, everyone except for his baby brother named Pumpkin who wants to go but is too little. Once they get there they have a fantastic time enjoying the leaves and picking out pumpkins. However, they did not forget little Pumpkin back home. They surprise him when they return home by bringing a little taste of fall with them.
This books is positively adorable. Everything about it is adorable from the sweet little story, to the cute little penguins, to the text. Salina completely embraces the adorable in this book and you can’t help but smile along. I love how clean and colorful her illustrations are and I love the creative little details such as the penguins returning home in a hollowed-out pumpkin as a boat. So, so cute!
