“Pride and Prejudice”

Mom & Me Pairing of “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen

I fell in love with Pride and Prejudice when I was a young teenager.  It all started with the BBC film version starring Collin Firth.  I mean, it’s amazing!  Have you seen it?  It is hours and hours of wonderful, proper, cozy, witty romance and society.  Then later on in high school I finally read the book and my love for this story grew.  I’ve known for a while that I wanted a really beautiful edition of this story so when I ran across this edition from Quarto it was love at first sight.  I paired it with another gorgeous edition that is part of the “classics unfolded” series which would work well for introducing the story to children.  Check them out below and enjoy!

Mom’s Edition from Rockport Publishers- illustrated by Alice Pattullo

This is an unabridged edition from the “classics reimagined” series and it is breathtakingly beautiful.  Pattullo’s illustrations carry all the poise and charm of the story while adding a bright and dazzling modern element that I adore.  There are tons of illustrations scattered throughout this edition and the climax is of them all is a full page spread illustration towards the middle that folds out into a large panorama of the beloved halls of Pemberly.  SO amazing!

Children’s Edition from Rock Point- illustrated by Becca Stadtlander

This children’s edition of “Pride and Prejudice” is from a series called Classics Unfolded.  These books are in a unique format in they aren’t necessarily bound books.  They are high quality hard sleeves that contain a thick and beautiful fold out accordion (double sided) that contains a summary of the classic story.  (You can see what I mean in the photos below)  The illustrations are absolutely stunning and each one covers a highlight of the story that includes an actual quote form the book.  They are perfect for introducing the classics to young readers and I am thrilled to have it added to my collection.
