“Ready-To-Read” Leveled Readers From Simon & Schuster

This post is done in partnership with Simon & Schuster.

“Ready-To-Read” Leveled Readers from Simon & Schuster

Teaching your child to read, whether you are homeschooling or supporting a public school education at home, can seem like a daunting task.  There are so many books out there, and it can be hard to know where to start and what difficulty level each book is.  That is why I am a big fan of leveled readers like Ready-To-Read.  These series have done all the work for you in categorizing their books into levels so that you have a system that is super easy to follow.  This series has five “star” levels starting with the “Ready-to-Go” level that includes a focus on sight words and word families all the way up to “Level Three” that is focused more on comprehension with more complex plots and vocabulary.

We are getting ready to teach my little guy how to read over here, so when I was asked if I would like to try out this series, I jumped at the chance.  They sent over three sample books for their beginning levels, and we were so excited when they arrived that we had to read them almost immediately!  See Pip Flap was the first one we read, and it was an instant success.  I was impressed with how cute it was (with such a small word count, that can be challenging) and my little guy was grinning the whole time.  The second we were done, he requested a re-read, and after that, he wanted another.

The other two books were a success as well.  I like how one of them was a nonfiction book about a subject that interests my little guy (rainbows) and that the other one is genius because it is sure to delight all fans of the PJ Masks T.V show.  (Having books that feature characters that your child is already familiar with is an excellent way to encourage even the most reluctant readers to read! This series also includes books featuring characters such as The Peanuts and even Daniel Tiger.)

All-in-all I am very impressed with our introduction to this series and we will most definitely be using these books to help my little guy learn how to read.  I am so excited to see how thrilled he will be when he has mastered them and can read them on his own.
