Secret Tree Fort

;lkj

“And it’s not just any old tree fort.  There is a rope ladder I can pull into the fort and a water-balloon launcher JUST IN CASE OF ATTACK.  I’m serious!  I’m NOT making this up!”

Secret Tree Fort by Brianne Farley

If you could imagine-up the best tree fort in the world, without any limitations such as pesky reality, what would it be like? Would it include piles of books like mine? Or maybe a secret stash of imported European chocolates? What about a giant telescope, a hot tub, and all the best food trucks lined up right outside? It’s fun to dream isn’t it?!

This book is all about two sisters. One has her nose stuck in a book (sound familiar?) and the other wants desperately for her to play. So, she creates a story, about the worlds most fantastic tree fort. It’s made entirely of candy and includes: a crows nest, a whale observatory underneath, neighboring pirates, and a marshmallow and chocolate storage compartment! Quite the place! Her older sister isn’t fooled by the made-up story, however, she is intrigued enough to put her book aside and start drawing up plans with her sister on how to make one.

Not only is this a sweet tale of sisters, that many children can relate too I think, but the illustrations are phenomenal. As the younger sister is creating the tree-fort in her mind it shows up in the illustrations bit by bit as her story gets bigger and bigger. It really is quite entertaining and the expressions on the two girls are very well done. I love this book and the magic that it creates!
