You and Me and the Wishing Tree by Nancy Tillman
Raise your hand if you love “On the Night you Were Born” or any other Nancy Tillman book? We do! We have a few of her books and each one is a real treasure. That is why I was so excited when I found out that she had a new book being released. You and Me and the Wishing Tree does not disappoint and has every winning attribute that Nancy is known for.
It is about a child who encounters a wishing tree and makes wish after wish and one by one they each come true. The wishes the child makes are some that are relatable to children as they are things that most of them would enjoy. Such as flying, unicorns, invisibility, and a field full of sweets. My favorite part is that this book is narrated by the parent of the child and that the parent accompanies the child on their journey of wishes.
Each illustration is simply magical with vivid colors and whimsical scenes. In the end the child is sleepy and they fly back home for bedtime. The feel and rhythm also make this book a perfect book for bedtime. It is one that Nancy Tillman fans will love and would also make a wonderful introduction to Nancy for those who have yet to read her books.
